My eventual goal is to develop half-sleeves on my upper arms, and this would disrupt the flow and 3. I have a lot of dreams like this one, and they are so tiny 2. Like, I wanted to be able to walk into Disney World and have people be all, Whoa, you have a Horizons tattoo, which means you are cool and also steeped in Disney lore. For like five minutes, I was absolutely positive that I wanted it there, for this reason: I wanted it visible. I see a lot of bros with ink there in Boston, it tends to be the Red Sox B emblazoned on pale Irish skin. So, the initial thought was to get the Horizons tattoo on the back of my arm, just above the elbow. What I’m Reading Now: Script & Scribble, by Kitty Burns Florey ( Tattoo shenanigans with pictures galore! Collapse ) Just when I think Shawn can’t even approach the whole sappy romantic thing that I’m all about, he goes and conjures something amazing. “I want the anchor you have, but with a 10 instead of a 13.” Shawn obviously liked it, too, because when I started making rumblings about wanting a new Top Secret Tattoo, he responded that he wanted a new one as well, his fourth. Kelly the Wonder Tattooist concurred, and Anchor 13 remains the best black-and-gray ink on my body. Thankfully, cooler heads prevailed, and when Shawn sketched it out for me, he decided to put the 13 into the ropework. My idea was to have the shank of the anchor be the numeral 1, and the crown a stylized 3. You guys remember my anchor tattoo, right?īeing as it was my thirteenth tattoo, I wanted the number 13 worked into the design in some sort of interesting way. What I’m Reading Now: Under the Dome, by Stephen King Thoughts? I’m at the theater now and have to go do a dance break, so I can’t chat much more now, but feel free to leave comments! I’m here all night. Plus sad, because it’s going to be my final tattoo with Kelly, so it’s got a whole background I’ll go into at some point when I’m in a deeper place. I’m actually really excited about this whole thing, though nervous because, as I’ve stated, my arm still hurts, and the Dr Pepper will be my biggest tattoo ever. I might ask him to add steam coming out of it somewhere, but I’m not sure how that will look on skin. Kelly was considering leaving it as a schematic, like a Da Vinci diagram, but I love the whole brass and gears and metallic look. Kelly is going to continue to work on it in the intervening months, and when it arrives, it’s going all over my left arm. The “cap” part will actually be woodgrain, and the panel will be brass, with the writing in red. I got a boner looking at the gears connecting on the side, especially the one with the 1891 on it (the year Dr Pepper was incorporated). Note that the arrow on the clockface is gone, but the arrows around the key are AWESOME. Which is awesome, no? Well, when I went in to get my Baloo Tattoo the other day, Kelly showed me a more intricate version. Now, a bunch of you have seen the preliminary sketch of the Steampunk Dr Pepper Clock Tattoo concept. (1) is that I want people to come in and get inked by Kelly on my big birthday weekend because Kelly’s leaving and I want to support him in his endeavors, and also because folks I know who have been wanting ink for awhile but have never committed now have a deadline. So, you know how I’m all about my Big Tattoo Birthday? There are a couple different ways to read the whole thing.
